Happy New Year: Welcome To The Wine Of The Month Club

Welcome to a New Year with Great Frogs!

2015 proved to be an exciting year of expansion, production, and new relationships. Our Wine Club has seen an impressive early start and growth rate. Members have expressed how much they've loved being a part of the Great Frogs family and look forward to their semi-annual pick-ups.

We are grateful for each and every one of you!

In our ongoing efforts to offer an enriched experience to our loyal customers, we thought that January 2016 would be the perfect time to introduce The Great Frogs Wine of The Month Club

What To Expect

Here's what you can expect from The Wine of The Month Club: As a wine club member you'll receive your pick-ups as normal. As an added feature, we will introduce you to a wine and food pairing to give you ideas of how you can enjoy Great Frog wines with simple dishes.

You'll get a glimpse of the finished product (the dish) as well as the recipe for you to try on your own. We understand how challenging it can be to figure out "what's for dinner" so we want to help you at least one day of the month!

You can rest assured that all dishes have been tested and approved by the Management (i.e. Nate) before we recommend them to you.

Without further ado, here's our January Wine of the Month and Food Pairing:

2013 Estate Syrah and Figgie Piggie Pizza

Ingredients

Here is what you need for this quick Friday night (or any night) dish:

  • Bacon
  • Sun-dried Tomatoes
  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
  • Fig Spread
  • Ready-made Pizza Dough
figgie pizza ingredients
  1. Follow crust instructions on packaging.
  2. Brush crust lightly with olive oil, then with warmed fig jam.
  3. Top pizza with pieces of fresh mozzarella, softened sun-dried tomatoes and pieces of fully cooked bacon.
  4. Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Voilá! Dinner is served.

For additional vegetable intake, add a light salad on the side of your Figgy Pizza and your job is done. We decided to keep it super simple and just enjoy with a glass of the 2013 Estate Syrah. We'll eat extra veggies tomorrow.

This full-bodied wine plays well with the saltiness of the bacon. As you enjoy a warm slice of pizza and sip of wine, pay attention to how the pepper notes complement the mozzarella and fig.

What other flavors do you experience? All of our palates are different so we'd love to hear from you. Whatever your taste buds tell you, our goal is to help you enjoy.
